August Completion Eyed for a Restored Masonic Building

The restoration of the former Masonic Building on upper Pleasant Street is moving forward with plans by the redeveloper to have a portion of the project completed by August 2017. The second phase of the construction project—the construction of an addition to the rear of the building on Exchange Street should be completed by December 2017. The site will be home to 69 units of market rate housing and street level retail on Pleasant Street. The façade of the building and some of the historical elements inside the building are being preserved.  The project will be named Residences @ Malden Station 138.

There will be a mix of studios, one and two bedroom units, a “great room” for use by tenants,on-site parking and a fitness area. The property now boasts all brand new windows.

The developer gifted the Malden Masonic Lodge Square and Compasses symbol that formerly hung on the façade of the iconic building to the Malden Historical Society.
