MRA Partners With Local Artists on Garage Mural Project

Wednesday, May 23, 2018

The Malden Redevelopment Authority (MRA) partnered with MaldenArts on a mural project that will enliven a small pocket park in front of the CDB Garage at the corner of Route 60, Middlesex and Exchange Streets.

The mural has been hung on the Exchange Street side of the garage in the area known as FitzGerald Park named after the late David R. FitzGerald, former longtime administrator of the MRA.

The mural features caricatures by former Malden resident and children’s book author and illustrator Ed Emberley.  The MaldenArts group worked with art students from Malden High School, Malden Catholic High School and the Mystic Valley Regional Charter High School.

Mr. Emberley was on hand for the May 23 ribbon cutting.  MRA Executive Director Deborah Burke had the opportunity to meet Mr. Emberley and get his autograph (see photo below).

The CBD Garage is owned by the MRA.
