The restoration of the former Masonic Building on upper Pleasant Street is moving forward. According to the developer, units in the restored Masonic Building, now renamed Residences @ Malden Station 138, are 90% occupied. The units in the new addition to the rear of the building should come on line mid to late July. Photos show the so-called "great room" which has been restored and which will be a community room for tenants. Also shown is an interior shot of one of the units, many of which have oversized windows. The site is home to 69 studio, one and two bedroom market rate housing units with street level retail on Pleasant Street. Two tenants have leases for the retail space including Eastern Bank and a hair salon/spa. The façade of the building and some of the historical elements inside the building have been preserved.
The developer gifted the Malden Masonic Lodge Square and Compasses symbol that formerly hung on the façade of the iconic building to the Malden Historical Society.
