Malden Pay-As-You-Throw Voucher Program
The City of Malden has established a voucher program to help defray the costs associated with the Pay-As-You-Throw trash disposal program for income-eligible Malden residents and residents who have extraordinary circumstances.
Qualifying households will receive a voucher redeemable for one box of 33-gallon PAYT trash bags for a ten-week period. Single person households will receive a voucher redeemable for one box of 16-gallon bags for a ten-week period. Total combined annual gross income for all occupants of the residence shall not exceed 50% area median income. An existing subsidy towards rent would count against qualification.
Applications
Applications for the voucher program are available for pickup at the Malden Redevelopment Authority's main office in Malden Government Center at 200 Pleasant Street, Room 621. Interested applicants can contact the MRA at 781-324-5720 and request the application be mailed to them, or, you may download the application here.

Additional Materials to include with Application
Please include the following with your application (via fax, email, or mail):
You must supply documentation of all sources of income, including, but not limited to
- paystubs to document salary and wages
- account statements to document interest and rental income
- letters from SSI or other state or federal agencies from which you receive benefits
- statements of pension benefits
- worker's compensation benefit letters.
- if you are self employed, please provide a copy of the Schedule C from your most recent tax return, and most recent last 3 months of business records.
You must also supply documentation of Malden Residency. The following documents can be used to prove eligibility:
- mortgage
- current tax bill
- current/recent utility bills
- recent rent receipt
- current lease agreement
*If disabled, you must have a physician form included with application.

Persons must schedule appointments in advance with the MRA (No walk-ins please).
