Construction of a new playground at the Beebe School has been completed. The playground is located directly west of the Beebe School, in a play area that did not have any play structures for the school to use. Now, an ADA accessible playground is there for the children to use, and it includes a wheelchair-accessible ramp, play panels, and swing so students of all abilities can enjoy the playground. The play structure also includes a spiral slide, climbers, ladders, steppers, and other play elements.
The project was administered by the Malden Redevelopment Authority on behalf of the City of Malden and in coordination with Malden Public Schools. The new playground was paid for with $200,000 in Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds. Shadley Associates served as the landscape architects and Sciaba Construction was the general contractor on this project.
These improvements will ensure that every Beebe School student can enjoy the playground, regardless of mobility restrictions.
