The original monument only contained the names of residents from Edgeworth who served during World War I.  The expanded memorial contains the names of all Malden men and women who served during World War I.

Members of the World War I Monument Restoration Committee were Veterans' Services Director Kevin Jarvis, Ward Two Councillor Paul Condon, MRA Executive Director Deborah Burke, Police Chief Kevin Molis, Butch Russell from the Irish American Association, Mayor's Administrative Assistant Kathleen Manning Hall, City Controller Chuck Ranaghan and Cemetery Superintendent James Cahill.  Donors to the effort included local residents, Idle Hands, the Malden Road Race Committee, the Bayrd Foundation and a grant from the Secretary of State's Office.
