Twenty-five restaurants across the City have received City approval to open outdoor dining areas. In Malden Center, construction began this week on the outdoor seating area for the Exchange Street Bistro. Owner John Carlino is installing a wrought iron rail system around a contained area that will offer seating at a combination of high top and standard tables. Another restaurant, Mystic Station, is installing an outdoor seating area on Pleasant Street under the Commonwealth’s Shared Streets Program. The City has expedited the permitting process for sidewalk cafes in an effort to support ongoing recovery efforts from COVID-19.
