Residents will see new improvements at three parks in Malden. Jamie T Construction, Inc. is currently renovating Callahan Park, Anderson Field and Pearl Street Park with a substantial completion date set for June 2018.
Callahan Park will receive two new dugouts with a blue metal roof and gold posts to match the existing bumpers and fence guards. Renovations at Pearl Street Park continue with drainage improvements. A new asphalt driveway with two drywells will be installed, along with timber edging, new shrubs and perennial planting in the bed between the park entrance and the playground.
Anderson Field will see the biggest makeover. Leveraging funds from Ward 7 Councillor Neal Anderson, two new dugout shelters with an accessible pathway from sidewalks to each dugout, players’ benches, fencing and four sets of benches will be installed.
To complete the renovations to Callahan Park, Anderson Field and Pearl Street Park, the Malden Redevelopment Authority (MRA) used Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds, with the support of Mayor Christenson. The MRA administers CDBG funds on behalf of the City. The MRA administered this project for the City.
